I have a Dyson hoover that smells of cigrarettes, is there any way to remove the smell ? I have washed filter?

not sure if it will work for yrs as i have never used a dyson but in mine when it smelt a bit unfresh i got one of those car air freshners - very cheap 60p and placed it in the hoover, now every time i switch it on it smells nice.
