Why did communism and Communists gain widespread support in Europe during the 1920d & 1930s?

Economics... People were either starving or had very little in their lives. Workers had no rights & were pretty much enslaved. Aristocrats and "wealthies" had more ownership of property, control of pricing in the market and direct control of most governments. Communism was not a hard sell but it was a gradual one.
