Can anyone please tell me what does poem mean?

Um...since he starts out using 'lofty', you are expecting high caliber surroundings...he goes on to describe his abode which sounds extremely humble and basic. Even his cat mocks it. Never the less, it is his sanctuary where he is heaven tutored ( feels; blessed, called, required? to write) He describes the t tered papers of works ...a bit of this a dab of that..nothing completed. He refers to the vial on the mantle ..drug...not uncommon for writers to use to conjure up their muses...but lots of pit falls come with it (unfinished works, poverty). I'm not sure by his tone if he accepts his lot in life...or (more likely) is lamenting it. Something that really throws me...in the last line, where you have 'they', did you mean 'thy'?.If so, it makes more sense...as if he turned away from usual labor that provides a better life style, seeking fame... but, he has neither fame nor creature comforts.
